PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission spent over six hours questioning a former chief financial officer of a statutory body as part of its investigation into Tabung Haji.
The anti-graft agency recorded the former CFO’s statement at its headquarters in its probe into alleged abuse of power in the purchase of RM370 million in shares in two plantation companies, Berita Harian reported.
MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman said this was the former official’s second day giving a statement. He was arrested yesterday before being released due to health reasons and then returned today to be questioned.
Halim added that the official would continue giving his statement at 10am tomorrow.
MACC was also supposed to record the statement of the statutory body’s former CEO, who was released after being arrested yesterday as he was unwell.
The pair was arrested as part of MACC’s probe into the royal commission of inquiry’s (RCI) findings on Tabung Haji.
Bukit Aman has separately opened five investigation papers into alleged commercial offences uncovered in the RCI report, which was declassified last week.
