GLASGOW: Malaysia has been awarded the Trafalgar Trophy for the best-performing weightlifting team at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with five gold medals.
The award was presented to the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation for the first time at a meeting of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation today.
Malaysia secured gold medals through Aniq Kasdan in the men’s 60kg category, Aznil Bidin (65kg), Erry Hidayat (79kg), Hafizuddin Roslin (88kg) and Syahmi Nor Ghazali (94kg).
The trophy, named after the historic Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, was established as part of the Commonwealth weightlifting tradition in 1978 when it was introduced at the 11th Commonwealth Games in Edmonton.
