PETALING JAYA: A timber factory in Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani, received a threatening note together with an object resembling a hand grenade this morning.
The note and “grenade” were found outside the main entrance of the factory’s office building at 10am, Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan said.
He told Bernama a bomb disposal unit was sent to the scene.
“The object resembles a hand grenade but was found to be non-functional, meaning it was not a complete device. We are conducting further investigations to determine whether it is made of wood or metal.”
He said the area where the object was placed was not covered by closed-circuit television cameras.
The note, written in Malay using red ink, essentially demanded that the factory cease operations, he added.
