PETALING JAYA: The Kajang municipal council (MPKj) this evening said that a four-storey flat in Sungai Makau, Hulu Langat, occupied by foreigners, had been illegally built.
In a statement, MPKj said that part of the building was built on reserved government land, while the other part occupied two private land lots.
It added that no planning permission had been applied for, nor had infrastructure or building plans for any development in the area been submitted.
“In short, the building’s construction was done without MPKj’s approval.”
The council stated it has since issued a notice and an order under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, though it did not provide specifics.
“We will take further action.”
The council was responding to a now viral video featuring radio presenter and actor Azad Jasmin who highlighted the dilapidated flats that has been installed with water pipes and electrical wiring.
Earlier today, Dusun Tua assemblyman Johan Abd Aziz said the land owner had allowed the Rohingya community to build and reside at the flats.
