PETALING JAYA: Muda has decided to skip the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan state election following its failure to win a seat in the recently-concluded Johor polls last weekend.
However, Muda president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz said the party will support its partner in the “progressive bloc”, Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), which will be contesting just one seat, Rahang.
In a statement, Amira said Muda will focus on consolidating its strength and making preparations for the next general election (GE16), adding that the party expected the nationwide polls to be held “not long from now”.
She added that the Johor state election showed that Muda recorded some increase in support compared with 2023, when the party and PSM contested in the six state elections under a pact.
“This shows that the ideas being championed by Muda and the progressive bloc are being accepted by Malaysians,” said the former Puteri Wangsa assemblyman.
