PETALING JAYA: National men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing put up another brilliant display in the second round of the Japan Open today to book their berth in the quarter-finals.
The world No 22 pair took only 29 minutes to beat Taiwan’s 18th-ranked pair Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan in straight games, 21-10, 21-15, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.
In the first round yesterday, the Malaysians shocked China’s world No 8 pair Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi by beating them 11-21, 26-24, 21-15.
They will face either South Korea’s world No 1 duo Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae or world No 23 pair Kakeru Kumagai-Hiroki Nishi of Japan in the quarter-finals.
