
PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan will seek a seventh term as Rantau assemblyman in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election.
Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, has represented Rantau since 2004. In 2023, he was re-elected with a whopping 10,280-vote majority as BN and Pakatan Harapan contested as allies.
Mohamad, who is also Rembau MP and foreign minister, had served as Negeri Sembilan menteri besar from 2004 to 2018.
In announcing BN’s candidates for the Aug 1 polls, coalition chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also said state BN chief Jalaluddin Alias will defend his Pertang seat.
Jalaluddin, the two-term Jelebu MP, served as Pertang assemblyman from 2013 to 2018 before being fielded again in the 2023 state election and getting re-elected.
