PETALING JAYA: Alam Maritim Resources Bhd group managing director and CEO Azmi Ahmad has been remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to facilitate an investigation.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the offshore marine services provider said the remand did not constitute a finding of wrongdoing.
“The board has taken the necessary measures to ensure the continuity of the group’s operations and will make further announcements should there be any material developments,” it said.
Azmi has been the group’s managing director and CEO since May 2, 2006.
Alam Maritim itself has long-standing business links with Tabung Haji (TH), including a joint venture formed in 2009 to invest in and finance offshore marine support vessels.
The royal commission of inquiry into Tabung Haji identified investments involving Alam Maritim and TH Marine as among 14 troubled investments, with RM278 million subsequently impaired.
