PETALING JAYA: A cleaning worker discovered the body of a man who had been missing since July 29 after noticing a foul smell from a drain along the West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Bagan Datuk, Perak, yesterday.

Bagan Datuk police chief Ali Jali said police were informed of the discovery at 3.39pm and rushed a team to KM155.7 of the southbound WCE, Kosmo reported.

He said the worker was cutting grass nearby when he noticed the smell and found the body and a motorcycle in the drain.

“We believe the victim was riding alone from the direction of Teluk Intan towards Sabak Bernam when he fell into the drain.

“The victim was found with his personal belongings, including a mobile phone, Malaysian passport and cash,” he was quoted as saying.

Ali said the victim’s relatives had lodged a missing person report at the Teluk Intan police station last week.

“The body is believed to be that of a 35-year-old man who had been reported missing since July 29.

“An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving,” he said.

Ali urged those with information to contact traffic investigating officer Normah Abu Hassan at 010-5364619 to help in the investigation.
