PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained three more people as part of its probe into the findings of the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji (TH).
According to an MACC source, the three men are the deputy general manager of construction, the occupational safety and health manager, and the project director of a property company which is also a TH subsidiary.
They were detained on suspicion of abetting the misappropriation of penalty notice charges amounting to about RM450,000. The trio allegedly colluded to commit the offence between 2017 and 2019.
The men, all in their 50s, were detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday afternoon.
MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
He also confirmed that the three suspects had been remanded for five days until Aug 9.
The remand order was issued by magistrate Ezrene Zakariah after an application by MACC at the Putrajaya magistrates’ court this morning.
A special MACC team was set up to review the findings of the RCI report, which was declassified on July 29.
MACC has now detained five individuals in connection with the RCI report.
