PETALING JAYA: National women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah fell in the final of the Taipei Open to the Japanese pair of Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi in straight games.

The world No 5 pair and tournament top seeds at the World Tour Super 300 championships lost to the much lower-ranked Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi 16-21, 18-21 in a match that lasted 40 minutes at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan.

With this, the wait continues for a Malaysian pair to win the women’s doubles title since the tournament’s inception 40 years ago.
