PETALING JAYA: The Negeri Sembilan palace has urged political parties contesting the state election not to use the royal institution in their campaign speeches and activities.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Azizi Mohamad Ali said the royal institution remains strictly neutral and unaligned with any political party.
He said the monarchy serves as a symbol of unity for the people and plays a vital role in safeguarding the state’s harmony, stability and well-being.
“Any claims, statements, images, videos or other materials linking the Negeri Sembilan palace, His Royal Highness the ruler, or any member of the royal family to any political party are false.
“Candidates contesting the Negeri Sembilan state election are advised to avoid exploiting issues related to religion, royalty and race, and to conduct their campaigns prudently, ethically and in accordance with the law to preserve the state’s harmony,” he was quoted by Bernama as saying today.
Azizi also said the palace appreciates the cooperation of all parties in ensuring that the royal institution continues to be respected and protected from misinterpretation or exploitation for political purposes.
He also urged the public not to believe or spread unverified information and to refer only to the Negeri Sembilan palace’s official communication channels for authentic information.
