
PETALING JAYA: National men’s singles player Leong Jun Hao scored a straight-game victory over India’s HS Prannoy in the first round of the China Open today.
The world No 27 player beat the experienced world No 36 shuttler 21-10, 21-14 in just 32 minutes at the elite World Tour Super 1000 championships.
The Malaysian will next face either Denmark’s world No 3 Anders Antonsen or China’s world No 18 Weng Hong Yang for a place in the quarter-finals.
The US$2 million World Tour Super 1000 China Open is one of the few elite BWF Championships offering lucrative prizes.
