PETALING JAYA: Sabah police have arrested two men believed to have hidden the body of a friend after accidentally shooting him dead during a hunting trip in Sipitang.
Sipitang police chief Awang Anak Suanda said that the body was discovered in a forest near Kampung Takula several days after the shooting, which is believed to have occurred on July 3.
He said the victim’s relatives informed police four days later after the victim, in his 50s, failed to return home, although the two friends had returned on Sunday, according to Sinar Harian.
Awang said the two men were detained two days ago and took police to the location where they had hidden the body, which was in the early stages of decomposition. “They had hidden the body in a panic,” he said.
The two men were remanded to aid in investigations. Two homemade shotguns, known locally as bakakuk, were seized.
