PETALING JAYA: Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and several other leaders have arrived at the PAS headquarters here to attend a Perikatan Nasional Supreme Council meeting, said to discuss the party’s status in the opposition coalition.
Also spotted alongside Muhyiddin were the party’s vice-president, Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Youth chief Hilman Idham, and acting Wanita chief Nolee Ashilin Radzi.
They were seen walking into the building around 8.20pm.
PAS leaders, including secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, election director Sanusi Nor, and Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden were also spotted.
Gerakan president Dominic Lau and Malaysian Indian People’s Party president P Punithan were also present.
A huge crowd of PAS supporters had gathered outside the party’s headquarters.
Yesterday, Takiyuddin, who is the PN secretary-general, sent a notice calling for an emergency meeting, with membership issues listed as the main agenda.
Other matters expected to be discussed are the state elections and the use of the coalition’s logo.
Bersatu’s status in PN is currently in limbo after PAS, the coalition’s most dominant party, ended its political cooperation with them on June 8.
Bersatu subsequently pledged to go all-out against PAS in the two state elections, insisting it would contest under the PN banner.
Last night, Muhyiddin said that Bersatu “will remain in PN forever”.
