
PETALING JAYA: A 43-year-old salesman has been charged with slashing a motorcyclist, severely wounding him, in a road rage incident on the Federal Highway’s motorcycle lane last week.
Azmi Jantan pleaded guilty after the charge was read before judge Fatimah Zahari in the Shah Alam sessions court, Harian Metro reported.
Azmi was charged with intentionally causing grievous hurt to the victim, 45, by slashing him with a cleaver at Km14.6 of the Federal Highway’s motorcycle lane, near Seksyen 13, at 8.19am on June 11.
The charge under Section 326 of the Penal Code is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine or whipping.
The judge granted bail of RM15,000 and ordered Azmi, who did not have a lawyer, to report to the police every month.
Sentencing was fixed for July 8.
