
PETALING JAYA: The driver of a car was killed after the vehicle caught fire in a crash with a trailer lorry along Jalan Batu 9, Kampung Semangat, Segari, near Pantai Remis, Perak, early this morning.
Perak fire and rescue department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received an emergency call at 4.36am and dispatched a team from the Pantai Remis station to the scene, Bernama reported.
“Upon arrival at 4.52am, firefighters found a Toyota Innova engulfed in flames. About 90% of the vehicle was destroyed after it collided with a Nissan trailer lorry.
“Rescue personnel later discovered the victim trapped in the driver’s seat of the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. The victim’s identity and gender have yet to be determined,” he was quoted as saying.
Sabarodzi said the lorry driver, aged 60, sustained minor injuries and received initial treatment from medics before being taken to hospital for further care.
He said the fire was brought under control at 5.30am and the operation concluded at 6.48am.
