PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a foreign man for indecent behaviour while allegedly intoxicated near a cafe stall in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday.
Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said the 33-year-old suspect was arrested at a condominium in Brickfields and has been remanded for four days.
He said the complainant, a 31-year-old woman, was with a friend at Chai Wala on Jalan Tun Sambanthan at about 10pm when the suspect allegedly showed her the middle finger before entering the premises.
At the cafe, the man sat opposite the woman, stared at her, and repeatedly winked at her.
The woman said she informed a staff member about the incident and was asked to forgive the man as he was an employee at the cafe. A person believed to be the cafe manager later apologised to her.
The woman lodged a police report the following day, saying she felt threatened by the suspect’s behaviour.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the premises.
The case is being probed under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of another person, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for insulting behaviour, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act for entering the country without valid documents.
