GEORGE TOWN: Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) is gearing up for the 16th general election with the formation of an election committee, says its chairman, Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow said the committee, comprising all members of the state leadership committee, will be assisted by three subcommittees overseeing the election manifesto, communications and election mobilisation respectively.
Penang DAP vice-chairman Zairil Khir Johari will lead the manifesto subcommittee, while the communications committee will be led by Penang PH communications chief Lee Boon Heng of PKR. The election mobilisation committee will be led by Zahar Zainul of Amanah.
Chow said the three subcommittees would focus on boosting voter turnout and raising public awareness of the importance of the impending general election.
He also announced minor changes to Penang PH’s leadership committee, with Penang PKR chief Mohamad Abdul Hamid replacing Nurul Izzah Anwar as a deputy chairman.
Penang PKR deputy chairman Goh Choon Aik will replace Mohamad as a vice-chairman.
