PETALING JAYA: Police have recorded statements from 11 people after a commando was severely injured, allegedly after a beating, at a military camp in Johor last month. They comprised the victim’s relatives and colleagues, senior officers, and doctors.
Johor police Ab Rahaman Arsad said two 24-year-old men arrested on March 14 had been released on police bail after being remanded for four days to assist in the investigation. “They have been handed over to the armed forces,” Harian Metro reported him as saying today.
A 25-year-old commando, Abdul Hamid Talib, from Semporna, Sabah, suffered a skull fracture after he was allegedly beaten during training at the Sri Iskandar army camp in Mersing. He was severely injured and is now unable to speak and dependent on breathing assistance.
Police arrested two men from the camp at about 11.45pm on the day of the incident and seized a 72cm-long cane believed to have been used as a weapon.
