PETALING JAYA: Islah Wahyudi Zainudin, an independent candidate contesting the Sri Tanjung state seat in the Negeri Sembilan state election, says he will be charged at the Sepang sessions court next month over a social media post he published.
According to Berita Harian, Islah said he was informed of the matter when officers from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission paid him a visit yesterday.
“It concerns a post I made on social media.
“I will provide further details at a press conference on July 22, which will also coincide with the launch of my manifesto,” he was quoted as saying.
The Sri Tanjung seat will see a five-cornered contest involving Islah, another independent candidate A Saravanan, Pakatan Harapan’s G Rajasekaran, Barisan Nasional’s A Achutan, and Bersatu’s M Leevineshwaraan.
Rajasekaran won the PH stronghold in the 2023 election, defeating Perikatan Nasional’s Zabidi Ariffin in a straight fight with 8,239 votes and a 3,996-vote majority.
