Bursa rises as tech stocks lift Wall Street sentiment

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened higher on Friday, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street spearheaded by tech stocks, amid the Middle East uncertainties.

At 9.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose eight points, or 0.48%, to 1,685.64 from Thursday’s close of 1,677.64.

The benchmark index opened 5.14 points higher at 1,682.78.

Market breadth was positive, with gainers outnumbering decliners 208 to 85. A total of 279 counters were unchanged, 2,144 untraded, and 25 suspended.

Turnover was 127.16 million shares worth RM70.78 million.
