BATU PAHAT: Johor Barisan Nasional has denied allegations that students from a technical and vocational education and training (TVET) college were forced to attend one of its political events last Saturday.
“There was no such thing. Nobody was forced,” Johor BN chairman Onn Hafiz Ghazi told reporters while on the campaign trail in Semerah here today.
He was responding to allegations by Pakatan Harapan candidate for Perling, Tee Boon Tsong, who said he had received complaints that students from the TVET college were required to attend an event at the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) office in Kluang.
Tee also questioned the alleged use of government premises for election campaigning, saying the building was not a BN asset.
He said he had not lodged a police report because he wanted an explanation from Onn Hafiz and LHDN first.
Onn Hafiz also said political differences between the state and federal governments should not stand in the way of development or the people’s welfare.
He said both governments must continue working together regardless of the outcome of Saturday’s state election.
“My responsibility is to the four million people of Johor, while Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s responsibility is to the 33 million Malaysians.
“So, whether or not he receives support from the people of Johor, he remains the prime minister. Even if PH loses in Johor, he still has to help us here,” he said.
