PETALING JAYA: A 45-year-old man involved in a hit-and-run in Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur, was arrested by police this morning.
Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement chief Zamzuri Isa said the authorities had obtained dashcam footage of the 7.26am incident.
The suspect, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, is believed to have exited a junction before knocking down the cyclist, along Jalan Wirawati 5. The driver sped off after the accident.
“The suspect, an ‘OKU’ card holder with a mental disability, was driving his younger sibling’s car,” Zamzuri said in a statement.
Zamzuri also said the extent of the victim’s injuries had yet to be confirmed and urged his family members to come forward and file a report to assist in the investigation.
He said police were investigating the case for reckless driving.
Zamzuri urged witnesses, including the owner of the dashcam video, to contact the nearest police station or contact the case investigating officer, Hazman, at 019-208 9005.
