PETALING JAYA: Female climber Jaslinda Saludin has lost almost 10kg after being missing for two weeks while climbing Gunung Batu Putih.
However, Tapah Hospital director Dr Wan Immi Salim said the 49-year-old was in stable condition and was able to eat and communicate well.
“Her leg is in a cast due to injuries, but God willing, she will recover quickly with rehabilitation and treatment,” Bernama reported her as saying today.
Earlier, Wan Immi accompanied Perak exco members A Sivanesan and Azlan Helmi to visit Jaslinda at the hospital.
Wan Immi said the victim sustained several injuries as a result of being in the forest for a long period of time and is expected to be allowed to return home in the near future.
When asked about Jaslinda’s emotional state, she said the woman showed high spirits and a positive attitude throughout her treatment.
Jaslinda, who had been missing on Gunung Batu Putih, near Tapah, since May 24, was found safe by an Orang Asli villager near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu at Pos Musoh, last Saturday.
Perak fire and rescue department director Sayani Saidon said the woman was found by a villager at about 3pm, who then informed his nephew in Johor to lodge a report with the authorities.
Jaslinda reportedly began the Trans Spencer Chapman trek at 2am on May 23, together with 13 other hikers and two forestry mountain guides.
She and another climber, Hanafi Neikmad, 41, were reported to have experienced health issues and stopped their ascent. However, Jaslinda continued towards the summit but lost her way.
