PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has hit back at Johor Barisan Nasional chief Onn Hafiz Ghazi after the latter claimed that he would rather forgo becoming the menteri besar than sit at the same table with DAP.
In a brief response on Facebook, Loke mocked Onn Hafiz’s statement. “You don’t want to sit at the same table with DAP. Great! Carry on with the arrogance,” Loke wrote.
He reminded Onn Hafiz that BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was part of the same federal administration as DAP leaders.
“Your president sits next to the DAP secretary-general every week (at the Cabinet meeting). Just so you know. Thank you,” he said, sharing a picture of him seated next to Zahid.
Zahid, who is also the Umno president, is the deputy prime minister, while Loke is the transport minister.
Loke’s response came after Onn Hafiz declared he would exclude DAP from the state government lineup should BN be voted back into government. There are no Pakatan Harapan representatives in the current Johor government.
Umno and DAP, once bitter rivals, are now partners in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government and have cooperated in elections since November 2022.
