SINGAPOREAN TikTok gamer Le En recently posted a video to her profile explaining why she feels having children isn’t always necessary.
Le En notes at the start of the video that, while she knows that many parents may disagree with her, not everyone has the finances, ability, and appropriate attitude to effectively raise a child.
“Having kids right now is so expensive,“ Le En stated in the video.
Aside from that, the gamer emphasized the physical changes that women go through after having children, and how this evolution is generally overlooked.
“When dealing with kids in their later stages of life, you need to have the actual patience of Mother Theresa,“ Le En joked.
Continuing, Le En focused on how future parents must be unselfish in order to raise a child and handle whatever personal difficulties they may have in order to not transfer such feelings onto their children.
Furthermore, the gamer noted that while one may raise children with love and care, the effects of the outside world can also influence how they see their parents.
“You cannot expect them to look after you when they grow up.” “They didn’t have a choice about coming into this world, but they do have a choice about not caring for you,“ Le En continued.
Recognizing the potential for controversy with her final statement, Le En stated that having a kid with special needs or a unique medical condition can result in a significant financial outlay, with parents of such children having to spend the rest of their lives caring for the child.
“Many people think I’m crazy when I say things like this, but these are genuine issues. These things really happen, and it may happen to you. How can you expect it if you’re not prepared?” Le En said at the end of her video.
However, the gamer stated that these were just her thoughts and that having children can be a beautiful thing, wishing her viewers with children and those who are pregnant the best of luck with their children.
Many commentators praised Le En for voicing things that many of them feel in her video, which received an overwhelming positive response.
“You couldn’t have said it better yourself. “The accuracy of this, and people don’t understand how terrifying having a child is, and they judge women for not having children,“ one person commented.
While, another commenter stated that overthinking is preferable to not thinking about having children at all.
